"Milwaukee is a city that is constantly undervalued. "
Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?
I work at ETE REMAN as our Retail Service Manager, which means I maintain the relationships and day to day activity for big box or mass merchant customers (AutoZone, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts). My role is constantly evolving and no two days are the same. The ability to grow a relationship over the course of time and be able to look back and smile at the accomplishments from where we were to where we are is amazing!
How long have you lived in Milwaukee and what brought you here?
I was born here and grew up in Wauwatosa. I moved to Eau Claire, WI for college and grad school. In the end, I always knew that I wanted to move back here and put down my own roots.
What do you love most about Milwaukee?
Milwaukee is a city that despite being “small” in outsiders’ eyes, there are always things going on. Whether it be along the Lakefront, in the Third Ward, Walker’s Point, or even out in the suburbs, there is never a weekend that goes by where you can’t get out into the community and experience something phenomenal. I just wish there was more time in the weekend and day to do it all.
What is one word that you would use to describe Milwaukee?
Energetic.
What local restaurant is at the top of your list?
Hooligan’s – They have an amazing Friday Fish Fry, wings, Reuben rolls and Hooliburger. I’ve never had a bad bite of food from here and their customer service is awesome.
What is your biggest hope for this city?
Growth, development, and recognition for how great this city really is.
What is your favorite Milwaukee tradition?
I have too many favorites, but a few are Midwinter Brewfest with Milwaukee Ale House, Bastille Days, tailgating for Brewers games, and of course, Leff’s Lucky Town.
What do you think is going to be a game changer for the city in the year of 2017?
Milwaukee is a city that is constantly undervalued. People look at Milwaukee and just because we don’t have the skyline of Chicago or Minneapolis, think we do not have the opportunities or resources they do. I think the continued growth and development of downtown in the commercial aspect (adding to the skyline) will start to catch the eye of new companies that want to be a part of what we are doing and want to grow their business here. The new Bucks arena and entertainment district will not only bring in more revenue, but the look of it is eye catching and even people who don’t normally go to Bucks game will want to experience it. The ability for that venue to bring in big national acts and other culturally enhancing opportunities is essential to bolster the value of our downtown.
