Activity at the site is all well and good, and a lot of fun. Ultimately what this site needs is an added convention hotel attached to the convention center. It can have other uses as well, but that is what this prime spot is open for and I hope people’s love for these activities and events don’t cause them to tight any real development on this parcel.
@AG….. I agree. I have gone to the Night Markets and I really enjoy them, but the lot needs to be a large convention center hotel. We’ve built a number of hotel rooms but they’re scattered around the downtown area.
What are the statistics on that surface lot’s daily use and income?
Milwaukee has historically loved its surface parking lots.
In fact, a multi-level parking structure was demolished 2 yrs ago not too far from this site (6th & Wells) that included ground fl. retail space. A grand opening of the new single level asphalt parking lot that replaced the previous structure was celebrated last week. The event wasn’t covered by urbanemilwaukee.com 8-(
@Gary I’d just point out the garage at 6th & Wells was demolished under city orders. It had fallen into much disrepair.
I sure wish you would fix that headline. I can’t even read the article because of it.
