Luther Manor has one like it in the men’s bathroom in the old part of the building, but it does use water and is hooked up, so that when the bathroom door opens the water runs. One of those big pink brick toilet bars sits in the drain to clean and refresh when the water turns on. Thought you might want to do the same if your going to use it.

This harkens me back to the biggest collection of “big”urinals ever. As a kid I spent considerable time playing in Lake Park and naturally availed myself to the LP pavilion restroom facilities. The men’s room in the lower level under what is now Bartolatta’s had several gigantic urinals.

Years later I ventured down there after the Fourth of July Parade and alas, they had been replaced by the standard variety.

This one looks like the same make and model as the one at the Glarner Stube in New Glarus- http://www.urinal.net/glarner_stube/. Leff’s in in Tosa has a biggun’ as well- http://www.urinal.net/leffs/.

A pull chain cistern would be appropriate when you reinstall it.

  6. blurondo says:

I’ve heard that the rules covering urnals of this size were created when Walter Kohler was governor. I can’t imagine why.

  7. Sam says:

I never thought I’d read an entire article about an old urinal…but there you go.

  8. Jim says:

I’d have to say that the biggest collection of “big” that I have seen in Milwaukee were at the Auditorium. Dozens of them, huge. Haven’t been there in a while so I’d imagine they are all gone now.

  9. Bill says:

There’s gonna be a lot of hazardous waste to remove under there!

  10. Steve says:

Ha! Tom, the Glarner Stube urinal is what immediately popped into my mind upon stumbling upon this article!
