I was at the Y-NOT II (drinking coffee) while Audrey Jean Posten conducted her interview Saturday morning. She did a good job at getting to the heart of a most interesting institution. One day Germaine Bowers, the morning bartender, told Tony at the end of her shift that she had to throw out a customer who was being a jerk. “And I yelled at him,” she said.
Tony replied, “Good. I’m glad that you threw him out. But I’m upset that you yelled at him. I DO THE YELLING AROUND HERE!”
It’s good to hear ralph is still doing well.
I believe I was the first female bartender that Tony hired at the original YNOT back in the 70’s. We had some great times there.
Tony’s dad “Papa Tony” helped to put me through college. Now I am a happily retired school teacher thanks to the DePalma family.
I regret to say that Ralph, the Y-NOT II poodle for almost 15 years, died peacefully today at home. Here is a link to a photo and more information.

Wow
I hung out at the y not II in the mid 70’s. It was practically next door to my house. It was a dive! But my kind of bar…never did hang at “clubs”. My daughter sent me the link to the story about it. We moved to So Cal. In 1980. She went in there a couple of times with me…back in the olden days people did bring the kids sometimes
