On Friday, July 20th, 2012 Alderwoman Milele Coggs celebrated her 35th birthday with friends, family, colleagues, and the members of the community.  Held out-of-district at the Historic Third Ward’s newest nightlife spot, the Oak Lounge, the event featured the musical stylings of DJ Sherman.

Urban Milwaukee’s newest contributor, Grace Fuhr, was there to photograph all of the festivities.

    Who says Milwaukee is segregated?

@Flyonthewall I think it is difficult to draw any conclusions on an issue as complicated as segregation in Milwaukee based on one private social event.

Happy Birthday Alderwoman Coggs! While I lament the lack of gender diversity on our Common Council, I am grateful we do have at least your voice at the table. I understand that policy should be gender neutral, however, the reality is that life is not. Your perspective – from every aspect of who you are – is important to Milwaukee. Thank you – and only 35?! Amazing.

By chance did anyone ask where Spencer Coggs is going to be donating one of his salaries? There are many great organizations that could use the money, and it would be a great precedent for other lawmakers that are/will be collecting two salaries from the taxpayers. I haven’t heard anything yet on where the money is going, has anyone?
