Holiday Tales : Twas the Night Before Christmas…

By - Dec 24th, 2010 04:00 am

“Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…”

We all know the story, but one thing you may not know is that this Christmas poem’s origins are unknown. Most recognize it as the work of Clement Moore, who first introduced the iconic version of jolly ol’ St. Nick that we know and love today. But legend has it that the story was actually written in the early 19th century by Vassar professor Henry Livingston as a gift for his children. No matter the author, the tale lives on and has become a staple of  the season.

On this Christmas Eve, First Stage Children’s Theater Education Director Julia Magnasco gives us a lively reading of the beloved Christmas poem.
