You Are There as Mondo Lucha! invades Turner Hall

Where can we possibly begin? Never has the spectacle of Mexican Wrestling’s high-flying acrobatics, alluring fan dancing, accordion punk, gorillas throwing t-shirts, and Boy Scouts pounding on infidels been so seamlessly integrated into the hallowed venue of Turner Hall.

So we set up a makeshift photo booth in the corner, and asked folks imbibing on various Tall Boy beers to make wrestler faces for us. Some decided to keep their anonymity and donned Luchador masks. What resulted was headlocks, gun shows, duckfaces, and one group of bachelorette pirates.

We also captured some of the imagery seen that night, which included a patriotic cross-dressing goat-man, a giant check bashed over the organizer’s head, Pezzettino and house band The Suspirios, plus a hyper Gorilla in pink panties. Don’t say we haven’t warned you.

This was the last stop this year for Mondo Lucha! in Milwaukee, as they tour parts of the Midwest. But these photos should hold you over for awhile. You can also visit our flickr site (best viewed full on black) to look for your own photo in the set. For the next week, we’ve relaxed the permissions so you can download the photo and post it facebook or other sites.
