Humboldt Bridge is back in business

Riverwesterners and East-siders gathered near the intersection of Humboldt and Commerce Avenues this evening for the grand re-opening of the Humboldt bridge. After two years, detours and several businesses lost, the construction is complete and hundreds came out to celebrate on foot and by bike. Community representatives, along with 3rd District Alderman Nik Kovac and 6th District Alderwoman Milele Coggs helped cut the ribbon and directed a cadre of cyclists and the 10 bus across the bridge. Meanwhile, Stubby’s and Lakefront brewery tapped pints of complimentary beer for a very happy crowd.
