Milwaukee Chamber Theater announces new Managing Director

We’re a little late on the news, but in case you are too, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre last week announced new Managing Director Kirsten Mulvey to replace former Managing Director David Todd, who left MCT in February after a short stint that began in the fall of 2007.

Mulvey comes to the position from years of work both on stage and off. She most recently served as Associate Director of Major Giving for the Friends of Milwaukee Public Television and owns KM Creative, whose clients include the Marcus Center and Milwaukee Ballet. She has also served as Managing Director of WildSpace Dance Company and Development Director for the Florentine Opera.

MILWAUKEE, WI: Milwaukee Chamber Theatre has chosen Kirsten Mulvey as the company’s new Managing Director. Ms. Mulvey most recently served as the Associate Director of Major Giving for the Milwaukee Public Television Friends. She also owns and operates KM Creative, a development consulting firm. Ms. Mulvey replaces David Todd, who left the managing director post in February.

“Kirsten Mulvey brings to Milwaukee Chamber Theatre a strong background in development and non-profit management along with a vast knowledge of and a strong investment in the local arts community,” said Producing Artistic Director C. Michael Wright. “We are very excited about bringing her into the MCT family as we continue to carve a unique niche for ourselves in the Milwaukee arts scene.”

As Managing Director, Ms. Mulvey will oversee the fiscal and administrative management of Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, working with staff and board to continue to responsibly expand and develop the company’s programming.

“Ever since I have been a part of our community’s cultural scene, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre has stood out for its history of artistic excellence and intimate connection with audiences. I am thrilled to serve as Managing Director for a company that is consistently sought after by both artists and theatre-goers for its intelligence, integrity and sheer enjoyment,” said Mulvey.

Ms. Mulvey brings a variety of skills to Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive and has a long history with the Milwaukee arts and non-profit community. Her previous posts include Director of Development for the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin and Florentine Opera Company and Managing Director for Wild Space Dance Company. She has worked with numerous non-profits through her consulting firm, including the Milwaukee Ballet, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. She currently serves on the boards of Wild Space Dance Company and Elena’s House and is active with the Milwaukee Arts Board. Ms. Mulvey received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Theatre and Communications from Marquette University.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre celebrates its 35th anniversary season in 2009-2010 with a five-play season at the Broadway Theatre Center in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. This season features Around the World in 80 Days, August 13-30, 2009; Picnic, October 15- November 1, 2009; Moon Over the Brewery, November 12-December 13, 2009; Duet for One, February 18-March 14, 2010; and The Sweetest Swing in Baseball, April 15-May 2, 2010.
