South Shore Listening Session Recap

Jul 9th, 2009 | By | Category: Bay View, Jeff Plale, Jon Richards, Lena Taylor, Transportation

Following the veto of Milwaukee County transit sales tax by Governor Doyle, Representive Christine Sinicki, Senate Jeff Plale, and Representative Jon Richards held a listening session at the South Shore Park Pavilion.

The listening session was last night and judging by Dan Cody’s photo it was well attended.  Senator Lena Taylor also showed up to listen.  Bike the Hoan advocate Bill Sell sent out an email to numerous mailing lists indicating that he thought the meeting went well, and that “the large majority spoke with passion against the failure of our government to honor our November 4 referendum for parks and transit, for a sales tax-property tax swap that would have paid for both.

Dan Cody declared on his blog that the meeting was a success.

The transit and parks funding forum held at South Shore Park pavilion last night was a success. There were between 75 and 85 people in attendance and most importantly it was the citizens of Milwaukee County who got to talk to their elected officials, not the other way around as is usually the case. Thanks to Sen. Taylor, Sen. Plale, Rep. Richards and Rep. Sinicki for taking the time to listen and more importantly act on some of feedback going forward.

Apparently Lena Taylor also shed some light on the caucus process, as Bill Sell was pleased to learn about what happened in the “secret meetings.”

Special thanks for her support of the forum, Lena Taylor came to our
district with an account of the secret meetings that we so loathe.
Your support is wide and deep in our part of the county.

Were you at the meeting?  What did you think?
