YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee President and CEO Announces Retirement and Board Launches Nationwide Search for Successor
Milwaukee, WI — The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee has announced that President and CEO Carrie Wall will retire on March 31, 2025, after 39 years of service to the YMCA movement, including 28 years with the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. Her tenure has been marked by transformative leadership, especially during her past eight years, where she guided the organization through significant challenges and growth following its 2014 bankruptcy.
Achievements Under Carrie Wall’s Leadership:
- Program Expansion: Expanded high-quality before and after-school care to 31 locations.
- Financial Stewardship: Secured long-term financial stability to meet evolving community needs.
- Community Engagement: Hosted the largest annual statewide Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Breakfast Celebration with support from numerous corporate partners.
- National Initiatives: Focused on water safety, child abuse prevention, childcare, and evidence-based healthy living programs.
Reflecting on her career, Wall stated: “It has been an honor to serve the Milwaukee community alongside our dedicated staff and partners. I am confident the YMCA will continue to thrive and serve as a beacon of hope for years to come.
Nationwide Search for Successor
The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, in partnership with the YMCA of the USA National Resource Office and the Upper Midwest Alliance of YMCAs, has launched a national search for Wall’s successor. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a strong history in community engagement and organizational success.
