Work to Resume on WIS 59/US 18 Pavement Replacement Project in Waukesha County

Beginning the week of March 16, 2026, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will resume work along WIS 59/US 18 (Les Paul Parkway), between Sunset Drive and Arcadian Drive, in Waukesha County.

Work to be completed:

  • Replace pavement of the southbound lanes
  • Traffic flow improvements, including:
    • Extend turn lanes at Sunset Drive, Racine Avenue, and Broadway Street
    • Add auxiliary lane from Racine Avenue to Broadway Street
  • Intersection improvements in multiple locations along corridor
  • Remove/repair guardrail
  • Replace storm sewer

Traffic impacts:

Traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes with construction activities moving to the southbound lanes.

Traffic along WIS 59/US 18 will be maintained in both directions with access to local businesses and residences.

The New Berlin Trail will remain closed during 2026 construction.

Schedule:

Construction on this project began in May 2025 and is scheduled for completion by late fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Musson Brothers, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $23.9 million project.
