WMSE Continues Partnership with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Broadcasting of their 2014 Season Begins July 3 Followed by the 2016 Season on October 2
The 13-week series leads up to the MSO’s 2016 season, which WMSE will broadcast in October.
Beginning Sunday, July 3 at 3 p.m., WMSE will broadcast the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s 2014 season. The 13-week series leads up to the MSO’s 2016 season, which WMSE will broadcast in October. “We are thrilled to once again partner with one of the greatest symphonies in the country and possibly the world. WMSE is home to the MSO and we couldn’t be prouder,” stated Station GM Tom Crawford.
The first piece from 2014 is titled “Seductive Ravel,” and was conducted by Roberto Abbado. It featured Augustin Hadelich on violin, the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus performing Stravinsky’s Concerto in D Major for Violin, and the Orchestra performing Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe. Recordings of the 2016 season will be broadcast beginning Oct. 2 and titles will be announced closer to launch date.
WMSE and MSO have a long standing partnership which includes a Sunday afternoon broadcast on The Modern Chamber where host Jason Wietlispach hand picks extraordinary music pieces from the MSO’s archives. WMSE also hosted a live broadcast of Jennifer Higdon’s City Scapes.
Under the dynamic leader of Music Director Edo de Waart, MSO is among the finest orchestras in the nation. Now in his eighth and final season with MSO, Maestro De Waart has led sold-out concerts, elicited critical acclaim, and conducted a celebrated performance at Carnegie Hall on May 11, 2012. The MSO’s full-time professional musicians perform over 135 classic, pops, family, education, and community concerts each season in venues throughout the state.
