MILWAUKEE, WI (August 26, 2024) – WISN 12 and The Salvation Army are partnering on the 11th annual ‘Class Act School Supply Drive.’ This initiative ensures disadvantaged students throughout Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties have the supplies they need to start the school year off right. Donations can be made right now by visiting wisn.com/classact or by texting “WISN” to the number 24365. On Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., WISN 12 will also be hosting a phone bank to collect contributions.

“’Class Act’ is one of the most important projects we work on each year,” says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “Together with our long-standing partners, it’s a way for us to fulfill the mission of helping kids in need head back to school with the tools they need to learn. Thanks to the generous support of our viewers and our community, the students are never disappointed,” Wade added.

The ‘Class Act School Supply Drive’ equips local kids with the tools they need to get back to school. Viewer donations will stuff students’ backpacks with essential supplies like pencils, pens, markers, crayons, highlighters, glue sticks, and more. A $25 donation fills one backpack full of supplies and a $500 donation provides backpacks for a whole classroom.

“We don’t want these students to feel unprepared” adds Wade. “Each and every donation makes a big difference in their lives!”

The campaign was launched more than a decade ago. Since its inception in 2013, the ‘Class Act School Supply Drive’ has raised more than $560,000 to help students throughout the area. The generous contributions from local communities has provided approximately 33,000 students with backpacks full of essential classroom tools.
