MILWAUKEE, WIS. (September 19, 2018) – WISN 12 hosted a helpline on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, in partnership with American Red Cross of Wisconsin, to help those devastated by Hurricane Florence. Through a phone bank as well as online donations, viewers across Southeastern Wisconsin raised $90,757 to provide much needed support for residents of North Carolina and South Carolina, along with other states impacted by the storms.

“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by Hurricane Florence. We’re all overcome with sadness to see the destruction that this has caused, yet deeply moved by the kindness displayed by our viewers,” says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “As the storms pass and the rebuilding begins, efforts like this helpline will empower Red Cross in their important mission. Every donation makes a difference, and people across the state of Wisconsin have really come together to help. Their generosity is nothing short of inspiring.”

WISN 12 promoted this helpline on-air, online and through its social media channels, encouraging people to support hurricane relief efforts by calling in with contributions or submitting donations through WISN’s website. The money raised through this helpline will assist Red Cross in providing shelter, food, supplies, emotional support, equipment and more.

Donations to the American Red Cross can always be made at www.RedCross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
