Brewers and Guardians Complete Four-Player Trade
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired catcher Bo Naylor and right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer (HOY-er) from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for outfielder Blake Perkins and right-handed pitcher Craig Yoho. Both Naylor and Heuer have been added to the 40-man roster and assigned to Triple-A Nashville. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Matt Arnold.
Naylor, 26, has spent his entire five-year Major League career (2022-26) with Cleveland after being selected in the first round (29th overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft from St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (346g, .199, 40hr, 125rbi). He played for Team Canada in the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classics.
Heuer, 30, has pitched in the Major Leagues with Chicago-AL (2020-21), Chicago-NL (2021), Texas (2025), Detroit (2025) and Cleveland, (2026), going 10-5 with a 3.76 ERA and 3 saves in 97 games, all coming in relief. He missed the 2022 and 2024 seasons after undergoing a pair of surgeries on his right elbow.
Perkins, 29, spent four seasons (2023-26) with the Brewers after signing with the team on November 23, 2022 (297g, .223, 14hr, 93rbi, 38sb). He was a National League Gold Glove finalist in center field in 2024. He played in the Washington (2015-18) and Kansas City (2018-22) farm systems prior to coming to Milwaukee.
Yoho, 26, was selected by Milwaukee in the eighth round of the 2023 First-Year Players Draft from Indiana University, where he had converted from infielder to pitcher. He made his Major League debut last season, making 8 relief appearances, and appeared in 15 games out of the bullpen this season.
