WISN 12 News Receives Four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

Awards honor WISN 12 News’ overall excellence, breaking news coverage, newscast, and digital coverage

MILWAUKEE, WI (May 16, 2025) – WISN 12 News is being recognized with four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). The awards acknowledge WISN 12 News in the categories of Overall Excellence, Breaking News Coverage, Newscast, and Digital. The Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.

“The Murrow Awards are among the most notable, respected honors that exist in our field,” says Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN 12. “The fact that WISN 12 News received these awards is a validation of our dedication to the community and the meaningful, contextual, and comprehensive coverage that make an impact on the people of southeastern Wisconsin.”

The top honor of Overall Excellence recognizes WISN 12 News’ ongoing commitment to breaking news, continuing coverage, feature stories, web presence and more. The station is acknowledged in the categories of Breaking News Coverage and Digital for its reporting of a shooting at a Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, WISN 12 News has received the award of Breaking News Coverage for exemplary journalism during the police shooting at the Republican National Convention hosted in Milwaukee

Since 1971, RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards. By receiving the Regional Edward R.
