WISN 12 Leads the Way in Early Evening News

“WISN 12 News This Morning” Grows Audience

MILWAUKEE – August 1, 2019 – According to the latest Nielsen data, “WISN 12 News at 6” p.m. draws southeastern Wisconsin’s top local news audience in the early evening, weekdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with a 5.2 household rating, followed by “WISN 12 News at 5” p.m. with a 5.0 rating.  The rankings for the full early evening local news lineup are as follows.

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir,” weekdays at 5:30 p.m., continues to draw the market’s top audience for national news with a 6.4 household rating.  It is followed in the half hour by “NBC Nightly News” on WTMJ (4.8), and “CBS Evening News” on WDJT (3.2).

“WISN 12 News This Morning” grew its weekday 4:30 to 7 a.m. audience by 4 percent year to year, averaging a 2.3 rating over the two-and-a-half-hour time period.  This marks the fourth consecutive major sweeps period of audience growth for the weekday morning newscast, following year-to-year growth in November 2018, February 2019 and May 2019.

“WISN 12 News at 11 a.m.” also marks its fourth consecutive major sweeps period with audience growth.  The hour-long newscast is currently number two in its time period with a 2.5 rating, and a 41 percent year-to-year audience increase over “Dr. Oz” in the time period last year.

Weekdays at 10 p.m., WITI leads the half-hour with a 5.8 rating, followed by WISN (5.0), WTMJ (3.6) and WDJT (2.7).

Note:  Each rating point represents 8,484 households in the Milwaukee DMA.
