WISN 12 is Southeastern Wisconsin’s News Leader for the Ninth Consecutive Major Sweeps

MILWAUKEE – November 23, 2022 – With one day remaining in Nielsen’s first major sweeps period of the 2022-2023 television season, WISN 12 leads every competitive local weekday newscast in the morning from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m., midday from 11:00 a.m. to noon, and evening at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. among southeastern Wisconsin households.

The latest Nielsen data also shows WISN 12 continues to draw the top weekday news audiences overall among southeastern Wisconsin households.  The station’s 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. news lineup and 10:00 p.m. newscast lead the market with four of the top five audiences in weekday news across every major sweeps period since November 2020.  WISN 12 leads in November 2022 with the top four weekday news audiences, plus year-over-year growth for the station’s 6:00 p.m. (+11 percent) and 10:00 p.m. (+2 percent) newscasts.

Weekday mornings, “WISN 12 News This Morning” draws the top news audiences from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m. with year over year growth at 4:30 (+29 percent,) 5:00 (+30 percent,) and 6:00 a.m. (+12 percent.)  At 7:00 a.m., “Good Morning America” is southeastern Wisconsin’s #1 network morning news with 9 percent audience growth year over year for the two-hour program.

In midday news, WISN 12 draws the top audience with 24,317 impressions for its weekday 11:00 a.m. to noon newscast, followed by WITI’s 11:00 a.m. news hour with 20,389.  WTMJ draws 14,752 impressions for its noon hour news while WDJT’s noon half-hour news draws 14,567.

In the sixth month since its debut, “WISN 12 News” at 4:00 p.m. draws 21,525 impressions for November 2022, an audience increase of 7 percent vs. its first major sweeps performance in July 2022 – and a 7 percent increase over the November 2021 audience for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in the 4:00 p.m. hour.

WISN leads weekend mornings with the top three news audiences overall including “WISN 12 News This Morning” Saturday, 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. with 31,382 impressions, followed by “Good Morning America” Sunday, 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. with 28,566, and “WISN 12 News This Morning” Sunday with 27,349.

Among Sunday morning’s news-talk and public affairs programming, WISN draws the top two audiences with ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” at 9:30 a.m. (23,294 impressions) and the station’s locally produced “UPFRONT” at 9:00 a.m. (19,138 impressions).  The competition follows with “Fox News Sunday” at 9 a.m. on WITI with 17,789 impressions, “Meet The Press” at 8 a.m. on WTMJ with 16,529, “Face The Nation” on WDJT at 9:30 a.m. with 13,245 and again at 10 a.m. with 10,605.
