Venture with Impact, an organization that arranges accommodation, workspace, and volunteer experiences for intrepid professionals who live and travel in a country abroad for one month or longer, celebrates its successful launch.

Ann Davis founded Venture with Impact, LLC (VWI) in 2016 with the mission to expose professionals to new cultures, people and ideas, so that they may be more informed and empathetic world citizens, and in the process, provide a positive social impact.

As evidenced by the rising trend of digital nomadism, or traveling the world while working remotely, many workers are abandoning their cubicles, drawn by the desire to maintain a career, while nurturing adventurous and humanitarian identities. Davis, recognizing this trend, found a way of combining this desire for travel and skills-based volunteerism into a unique program that specifically caters to professionals.

“I have always had a passion for traveling and volunteering, however I know that fulfilling these passions, while maintaining a full-time professional career is very difficult. This dilemma led to the idea for Venture with Impact,” says Ann Davis.

According to World Bank director, Kristalina Georgieva, “ecotourism and cultural tourism, which encompass the category of voluntourism, are the fastest-growing areas of the world travel industry” (www.travelandleisure.com). Yet, VWI, is the only organization of its kind that brings together professionals, provides them with an opportunity to work remotely abroad, and matches them with tailored volunteer experiences.

While some organizations, such as Remote Year, exist to support digital nomads, VWI is unique in its ability to offer personalized opportunities to connect beyond work and give back to the local community through pro-bono projects. Beyond connecting participants with volunteer partners that fit with their interests and schedules, VWI plans cultural activities and weekend trips, allowing participants to dig deeper into the local culture and create bonds with their fellow ‘Venture Nomads’.

in January of 2017, VWI launched their hub in Trujillo, Perú and this July has expanded to Medellín, Colombia. Currently, the program hosts a range of participants in terms of age, profession, nationality, and experience. The age of participants ranges from early 20s to 60s, and professions have included software designers, entrepreneurs, non-profit directors, teachers, engineers, doctors and writers.

Following the successful launch of their projects in Perú and Colombia, VWI continues to expand and is launching new hubs in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Lisbon, Portugal in 2018. The program is currently accepting applications for new Venture Nomads through 2018.
