Wisconsin Public Radio Announces New Schedules Featuring “Wisconsin Weekend” Starting October 4

MADISON, WI – September 176, 2025 – Wisconsin Public Radio today announced its lineup of new shows, including “Wisconsin Weekend,” a roundup of highlights from WPR’s weekday program, “Wisconsin Today.” The new lineup begins on Saturday, Oct. 4 and also includes:
- “Freakonomics” – Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. CT – Hosted by Stephen Dubner, Freakonomics examines the surprising way economics influences our everyday lives.
- “Embodied” – Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. CT – This award-winning show, hosted by Anita Rao guides us on an exploration of our brains and bodies and the occasional taboo topic.
- “The Sam Sanders Show” – Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. CT – Award-winning journalist Sam Sanders interviews leaders from the world of pop culture and entertainment.
- “The Splendid Table” – Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. CT – Francis Lam brings award-winning conversations about cooking, with tips and recipes.
- “Wisconsin Weekend” – Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. – Catch up with some of the most engaging people and stories we’ve shared on “Wisconsin Today” during the week. Hosts Kate Archer Kent and Rob Ferrett share stories about life, community and culture in the state we all call home.
- “Throughline” – Sundays at 5:00 p.m. CT – Throughline explores today’s headlines through a time machine, going back through history to answer the question “How did we get here?”
- “Planet Money/How I Built This” – Sundays at 6:00 p.m. CT – These two shows combine to demystify the economy with entertaining explanations and fascinating interviews with small business owners, CEOs, and more.
All programs are available as podcasts and for live streaming on wpr.org or the WPR mobile app.
In addition to these seven shows, WPR News will add an extra hour of NPR’s “Weekend Edition,” which will now air from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. CT on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
