NECEDAH, Wis. – The Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy will hold a graduation ceremony for 86 cadets from 32 counties Saturday, December 21 at 12 p.m. at Necedah High School.

The graduating cadets of class 53 will each receive their high school equivalency diploma and can earn up to ten college credits by completing the 22-week Challenge Academy program.

The voluntary Challenge Academy is a cost-free alternative education program which reshapes the lives of 16 to 18-year-olds at risk of not graduating from high school. It uses a structured, military-style environment and state-certified teachers and counselors to build cadets’ academic abilities, character, self-confidence and personal discipline.

The National Guard Youth Challenge Program currently operates 37 programs in 29 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Nationwide, more than 215,843 teens have graduated.
