MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Bike Fed is proud to announce that it will again host its Ride Across Wisconsin (RAW) event August 20-21, 2022.

The Bike Fed’s largest fundraiser of the year will feature a new route and a variety of opportunities for riders to explore our beautiful state by bicycle.

The 2022 RAW route showcases quintessential Wisconsin attractions including the Elroy-Sparta State Trail tunnels, the Wisconsin Dells – Waterpark Capital of the World, the Merrimac Ferry, Trek World Headquarters, and the Harley-Davidson Museum. With one- and two-day options, riders can choose a 235-, 165-, 135-, or 100-mile challenge based on their abilities and ambitions.

“This very well might be the best RAW route we have ever had,” says Amelia Kegel, 2022 Ride Director. “Starting in La Crosse and ending in Milwaukee allows us to hit some of the best rail-trails in Wisconsin, including the recently reopened Elroy Sparta trail. In addition, we are visiting some of the state’s most iconic two-wheel businesses – Trek Bicycles in Waterloo and Harley-Davidson in Milwaukee. If you have never ridden across our beautiful state on a bicycle before, this is the year to do it!”

Also new this year, participants and their bikes can travel to host cities of La Crosse, Wisconsin Dells, and Milwaukee on Amtrak’s Empire Builder.

Past participant Chris Stindt shares that “RAW is truly an epic experience. Wisconsin is an amazing place to ride a bike and being able to ride a bike across the state is something that I think everyone should experience. I can’t wait to try the new course – what’s more Wisconsin than the Dells, Trek, and finishing in downtown Milwaukee? The route, the support, the ride options – this is going to be special!”

Details about Ride Across Wisconsin routes, registration, transportation, and support are available at www.RideAcrossWisconsin.com.

As always, RAW promises to be fun, epic, and hard – but worth it. Support of RAW helps to make cycling in Wisconsin better for everyone.

About the Wisconsin Bike Fed:   The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin Educational Foundation, Inc. (AKA Wisconsin Bike Fed) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that cultivates, motivates, and unites residents, communities, businesses, and political leaders to move bicycling forward in Wisconsin through education, legislation, and involvement. The Wisconsin Bike Fed is the only statewide organization that advocates for better bicycling for everyone who rides a bike in Wisconsin. We have over 3,400 members – individuals, families, and businesses – who support our work to:

  • Advocate for cycling, including having the governor prioritize transportation access and environmental concerns in the recently proposed 2021-23 biennial budget, and having bike shops deemed essential businesses during the pandemic.
  • Provide programs to make bicycling safer and more accessible across the state, particularly in the state’s most populous urban communities of Milwaukee and Madison.
  • Promote Wisconsin as an economic engine for cycling, highlighting scenic trails and emphasizing the many large and small businesses that support bicycling as direct producers, repairers or vendors of bikes and related accessories, as well as the hospitality industry that benefits from cycling. According to the most recent impact study released by the governor’s office in 2020, consumers spent $1.42 billion in 2017 on direct bicycle-related expenditures, bringing funds into our businesses and state budget.
