WBB Drops Road Contest at Butler on Sunday Afternoon, 67-65
Golden Eagles travel to Seton Hall Wednesday night
INDIANAPOLIS – The Marquette University women’s basketball team fell at Butler on Sunday afternoon, 67-65.
The Golden Eagles (15-8, 7-5 BIG EAST) were led by Skylar Forbes, who had 14 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Halle Vice (12 points), Lee Volker (11 points) and Olivia Porter (11 points) all joined Forbes in double-figures.
A pair of Halle Vice’s free throws tied the game at 23 at the 6:04 mark of the second quarter. Marquette would outscore Butler 22-13 in the second quarter to take a one-point lead at the break. Skylar Forbes and Halle Vice combined for 15 of MU’s 23 second quarter points.
The second half saw three lead changes and six ties. Butler had a three-point lead at the 4:03 mark of the fourth before Marquette went on a 6-0 run to lead 64-61 with 1:45 remaining.
The Bulldogs hit a three with 37 seconds remaining to tie the game and a layup with 12 second left to pull ahead by two. Marquette had a chance to tie at the end but came up short.
Butler (13-13, 3-10 BIG EAST) was led by Kilyn McGuff, who had 21 points and five rebounds.
NOTABLES:
- Skylar Forbes, Halle Vice and Lee Volker all scored in double figures for the sixth time this season and fourth time in BIG EAST play.
- Skylar Forbes tied her career-high with eight made free throws.
