MILWAUKEE (October 16th, 2023) – As the days grow shorter, temperatures continue to drop, and the holiday season approaches, opportunities to spread warmth and goodwill start to surface. In anticipation of the harsh winter that Wisconsin brings, a heartwarming initiative, the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ unites the Brewer’s Hill Neighborhood to support the community. Board members from the Brewer’s Hill Neighborhood Association, individuals at Lakefront Brewery, and administrators from Dr. George Washington Carver Academy of Mathematics and Science have teamed up to make a positive impact. On Saturday, October 21st, from 11AM to 9PM, Lakefront will host a community clothing drive accepting winter coats and cold weather accessories for the students at Carver Academy, a K4 through 8th Grade school up the street from them.

Not only is this a remarkable symbol of unity in the community, bringing together business and education, but it is a lifeline for many who may not be adequately equipped for the cold months ahead. In recent years, teachers have reported that many students come to school dressed without proper layers, even on the coldest days. This initiative aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most during such an unforgiving time of year.

Administrative volunteers from Carver Academy will be on site at Lakefront Brewery to collect gently used or new winter coats of all sizes as well as any cold weather accessories the community is able to donate. Guests over 21 will receive one free beer per donor to enjoy from Lakefront Brewery. The free beer can be used that day or another day in the future.

Can’t make it down to the brewery on 10/21 for drop-off? Feel free to call the brewery (414-372-8800) to make other arrangements. Financial donations will also go a long way in purchasing new coats, follow the link HERE to donate directly, or utilize the QR code available in person at the brewery. Interested in helping with the drive? Contact vicepresident@historicbrewershill.com to volunteer.

The ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ is not just about providing physical warmth but also about kindling the warmth of compassion in the hearts of everyone involved. It is a shining example of how businesses, education, and the community can come together to create a brighter, warmer, and more inclusive future.
