Today the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County (LWVMC) activated its award-winning nonpartisan election guide at VOTE411.org to aid voters in municipalities that have primary elections on February 20. Races covered in the League’s February 20 primary election voter guide are: Milwaukee County Supervisor District 18; Milwaukee City Mayor; Milwaukee City Council Districts 5, 7, and 11; Brookfield City Council District 5; Fox Point Village Board; Franklin Municipal Judge; and School Boards in Cudahy, Franklin, Greendale and Shorewood.

To access the Voter Guide, voters simply go to www.vote411.org, enter their address and choose to see what is on their ballot. The guide also includes candidate responses to questions posed by LWVMC so voters can compare candidates side-by-side.

“The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County is proud to provide this important, nonpartisan resource to voters in our communities,” said Sarajane Kennedy, LWVMC Vote411 Team Leader.   “We encourage voters to visit VOTE411.org so they are prepared to cast their vote confidently on February 20.”

The League updates its VOTE411 voter guide a few weeks before every election and includes candidates in Milwaukee and Waukesha County-wide races, in municipal and school board races in Milwaukee County, and in municipal races in Waukesha County’s 13 largest communities and in the eight K-12 school districts in those communities.

With resources available in both English and Spanish, VOTE411.org helps millions each year — many of them first-time voters — learn more about what’s on their ballot, where candidates stand on the issues, how to find their polling place, and more.

“From county, municipal and school board races this spring to critical state and national races this fall, it is crucial voters make their voices heard this election year,” said Nancy Maloney, LWVMC President. “VOTE411.org is the nation’s premiere online election resource that provides voters with the resources they need to make an informed vote.”

In addition to VOTE411, the League encourages active participation in government by conducting voter registration drives and candidate forums, get-out-the-vote social media messaging, and educational public forums on critical public policy issues.

The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization encouraging informed and active participation in government.  It influences public policy through education and advocacy, but does not endorse or oppose candidates or political parties.  The national League of Women Voters was formed in 1920 after the ratification of the 19th Amendment ensuring women the right to vote.  Its mission was to educate women on voting matters and to encourage them to exercise their newly won franchise.  While the League of Women Voters retains its name to honor its founders, today’s League includes men as members and its mission is to make democracy work for all.
