MILWAUKEE—(May 20, 2014) – VISIT Milwaukee has officially launched its summer campaign filled with tons of ideas about what to see and do during Milwaukee’s sizzling summer months and has given its website a new look and feel.

The campaign is specially targeted to bring in leisure travelers from Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and Chicago and is being pushed out through multiple channels including print advertising, digital banners and streaming radio spots.  The redesigned website makes it easier for folks to navigate and find all the resources they need.

Market research has shown that most travelers who might be unfamiliar with Milwaukee get hooked once they experience the city for the first time.  VISIT Milwaukee’s summer campaign is designed to give new and veteran visitors, and even locals, the best experience possible by putting a Milwaukee vacation just one mouse click away.

To further promote Milwaukee as a family-friendly destination and a hot spot for beer enthusiasts and music lovers, the summer campaign provides prospective visitors 19 vacation-inspiring itineraries housed on a new summer microsite. The new itineraries range from what to do when you’re in town for Summerfest to eating your way through Milwaukee’s James Beard award winners – anything to get the VISIT Milwaukee partners and city events into the hands of the traveler.

“The amazing burst of momentum in Milwaukee during the summer months means a huge surge in traffic to our VISIT Milwaukee website” said Megan Gaus, VISIT Milwaukee senior director of marketing and communications. “Our new campaign and website re-design comes at the perfect time when everyone is ready to shake off the long winter and experience all the great fun Milwaukee has to offer.”

VISIT Milwaukee’s primary goal was to create a clean, simple, and modern website which allows images of the city and Milwaukee’s amazing stories to take center stage. The website now includes 36 new articles that help to market Milwaukee as a great destination and provide insider tips, showcase hundreds of local partner businesses and inspire vacations.

While the backend functionality of the website remains the same, it has a new user-friendly approach with intuitive navigation and content bucketed into easily understandable sections such as “Plan Your Visit,” “Places to Eat” and “Things to Do.”
