Video Release of MPD Officer Involved Shooting

MILWAUKEE, WI— On Saturday, March 8, 2025, at approximately 3:17 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of North 32nd Street for an entry into a business by two suspects. The caller reported that one of suspects fired shots in their direction.

Officers responding to the area saw the two suspects on the 5000 block of N. 37th. Street. Officers approached the armed suspect and gave several commands. An officer discharged his firearm subsequently striking the suspect.

The suspect is a 41-year-old male and sustained fatal gunshot injuries. The suspect’s firearm was recovered next to him.

The second suspect, a 34-year-old male, was arrested and criminally charged with burglary on March 13, 2025.

The officer that discharged his firearm is a 43-year-old male with over 10 years of service. The officer was placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shootings.

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating this incident. The Wauwatosa Police Department is the lead agency. The Milwaukee Police Department’s Video Release Policy Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 575, establishes criteria for when video evidence that captures officer-involved incidents that result in death or great bodily harm will be released to the public. This policy is intended to balance important interests, including the public’s interest in transparency and police accountability, the necessity of preserving the integrity of criminal and administrative investigations, and the privacy interests of individuals depicted in such videos (including victims, witnesses, bystanders, and the individuals against whom force is used). This policy creates a presumption of release. It is our goal to release video in officer involved incidents according to SOP 575 within 15 days of the incident.
