Tyson Vitale Announces District 16 Alder Candidacy
Longtime community activist files to become District 16’s next alder
MADISON, WI- After over a decade of working in state and local politics, Tyson Vitale is thrilled to announce his candidacy for Alder in Madison’s 16th district. Born and raised in Madison, Vitale views his bid as a way to continue his commitment to serving the far east side community.
“I know great things happen when Madisonians invest in one another. I am a product of that and am committed to making a safer, more equitable Madison for everyone,” Vitale said.
Growing up in a low-income single-parent household on the far east side, Vitale understood what it was like to feel disconnected from Madison’s great opportunities. “As a child, I did not feel a sense of community until Eastsiders, extended family, and teachers chose to invest in me as an at-risk kid. It was by the strength of their embrace that I was able to break the cycle of poverty and bridge the opportunity gaps that hindered me and that so many of our at-risk kids experience today,” Vitale stated. This community investment is what drove Vitale to work in local politics and hold various leadership positions. Throughout his career, he has served on the Executive Board of the Democratic Party of Dane County and the Board of OutReach Inc. LGBT Community Center. Vitale also worked as the Organizing Director for Rebecca Dallet’s successful campaign for Supreme Court Justice.
“As your Alder, I will work every day to invest in a future that celebrates every one of us — we need to ensure that for all residents of District 16, a better Madison is possible” Vitale said.
