Two teens die in shootings just days apart
Statement of Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. May 10, 2023
I am angry and frustrated by the recent 2nd Aldermanic District shooting deaths of a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy.
The 16-year-old was killed on Friday night (May 5) after he was shot near N. 66th St. and W Villard Ave., and the 15-year-old died after being shot on Tuesday night (May 9) near N. 92nd St. and W. Sheridan. My condolences go to the loved ones and friends of the victims, who were taken before they could truly start living their lives and realizing their potential.
As a community we need everyone to step up – especially parents and guardians – to help make sure our teens and youngsters are engaged in safe activities and that their whereabouts are known at all times. Teens’ access to guns must be eliminated by keeping all firearms locked up and unavailable at all times.
The official start of summer is still several weeks away, yet we are seeing deadly shootings involving teens almost every few days. Gun violence must be stopped and we must work for peace together as a community to shut it down. Additionally, I am inviting residents to contact my office to schedule a neighborhood community walk – please reach out by calling 414-286-3787.
I am asking the public to help us capture and bring the shooters to justice as soon as possible.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or P3 Tips App.
Let’s help bring justice to grieving families.

Why isn’t the killing of two children a major event concern? Why isn’t there highlighting in local newspapers? Where was the discussion at schools? Were flags flown at half-staff?
