While noticeably going softer on China, Trump’s tariffs hurt key allies and top trading partners Mexico and Canada

Thanks to Trump, American businesses will be saddled with higher costs, which could lead to higher prices on goods Americans need. Prices will likely go up the grocery store, as people still feel squeezed at the checkout counter. The price of homes is expected to increase, as materials used to build homes become more expensive, which comes as homeownership remains unaffordable to many.
In his second term, Trump continues to use tariffs as a political scheme, this time against our top allies and trading partners. Tariffs can help American industries and support our workers if they are used deliberately and carefully, but Trump’s across the board tariffs are neither. As our allies impose retaliatory tariffs, the damage will get worse. Donald Trump hasn’t even been in office for a month, and he is already breaking his promise to lower the cost of living.”

Frump is doing the exact opposite to the US economy of what he pledged during the campaign. One can argue that he promised tariffs. But his position on tariffs, both then and now are fatally flawed. He convinced voters that his crazy application of tariffs would be the magic pill to cure inflation. Just the opposite is true, and historically true. Then add the counter-tariffs that Mexico and Canada propose to slap on US goods coming into their countries and effectively we are in a completely unnecessary and no-win trade war, where the biggest losers are the citizens of all 3 countries. And the gutless, spineless, mealy-mouthed GOP representatives in the House and Senate will turn a blind eye to all of this lunacy, pretending that it is good for ‘Merica.
I wonder how rural Americans that backed him in November will feel when they can’t export their products and need to rely on more bailouts from the Clown-In-Chief and his abominable administration.
Wait – they’ll all blame it on their favorite scapegoats – Clinton, Obama, Biden, Hillary’s emails and Hunter Biden’s laptop.
