Congressional candidate proposes “Achieving Universal Healthcare for Every American,” a five-point agenda for better healthcare system

Brookfield, WI—Tom Palzewicz, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Wisconsin’s 5th district, today released Achieving Universal Healthcare for Every American, a five-point healthcare agenda.

“America should be the healthiest country with the best healthcare outcomes, and that’s simply not the case today,” said Palzewicz. “We spend too much and we get too little for it. It’s time for universal healthcare and a deep commitment to a smarter healthcare coverage system.”

Palzewicz supports investment and improvement of the Affordable Care Act and moving to a single-payer healthcare system that will, according to a recent Koch Brothers-funded study, save Americans $2 trillion a year in healthcare costs.

“Too many of us don’t have insurance or simply cannot afford it,” said Palzewicz. “The costs of prescription medication, basic tests and visiting a doctor are simply too high for way too many American families. We can do better.”

“In my view, access to affordable, quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege,” said Palzewicz.

Palzewicz’s five-point plan includes working towards true universal coverage, protecting reproductive healthcare, improving preventive care, investing in healthcare infrastructure, and strengthening earned benefit programs like Social Security and Medicare. He also called for a healthcare system that allows for increased job mobility.
