Tiffany Slams Evers Veto of Tax Relief for Tips and Overtime

WAUSAU, WI – Today, Congressman Tom Tiffany, candidate for Governor of Wisconsin, issued the following statement after Governor Evers vetoed Assembly Bill 461 and Senate Bill 36, legislation that would have eliminated state income taxes on tips and overtime.

“If you pick up extra shifts, work overtime, or rely on tips to make ends meet, Democrats in Madison think they should get a cut of your paycheck,” Congressman Tiffany said. “They claim to stand with workers, but when it matters most, they vote to take more of your money.”

“As governor, I will sign both of these bills into law,” Tiffany added. “Working harder should mean taking home more, and I will make sure you keep more of your paycheck.”

On Wednesday, Rep. Tiffany held a press conference where he reaffirmed his support for eliminating state income taxes on tips and overtime. He also criticized Democrat candidate for Governor Francesca Hong, who voted against eliminating taxes on overtime and did not show up for the vote on eliminating taxes on tips. Tiffany concluded by saying that if Governor Evers vetoed these bills, he would sign them as governor so working Wisconsinites can keep more of their hard-earned money.
