The Pandemic Is Not “Just Going Away”
Brookfield, WI – President Donald Trump and his Republican followers, including Scott Fitzgerald, are waiting and hoping the COVID-19 crisis will just go away. The president says he won’t even talk about it in his second term. Republicans are all too eager to deny the science, dismiss common sense and let nature take its course. That’s what Scott Fitzgerald will do in Congress; nothing. That is why Democrat Tom Palzewicz is running against him for the Fifth District seat.
“Doing nothing is not an option and hitching yourself to the Trump bandwagon, regardless of the outcome of the election, means inaction, more deaths, and a longer recovery,” said Palzewicz. “The Republican way in Wisconsin has been for the legislature to do nothing and when something is to be done, let the big money Republican donors file a lawsuit and have the taxpayers pay for it. This isn’t a democracy; it is authoritarianism and a threat to the country.
Palzewicz is impressed with the massive early voter turnout around the country, and a high percentage of mail-in votes have already been collected.
“Democracy is all about participation,” said Palzewicz. “When the people participate, it keeps politicians on their toes. It holds them accountable. ‘We the people’ is the most significant beginning of any document ever written in this country and as long as we the people are heard, we can keep this great experiment rolling. Government has a responsibility to the people, not to corporations, the mega rich or to the party in charge. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!”
