(MILWAUKEE – October 30, 2014) – On the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2014 the Florentine Opera Company will present Trial By Jury – A Whimsical & Operatic Gala in Milwaukee’s magnificent Federal Courthouse. With this modern benefit performance and gala dinner, artfully prepared by Executive Chef Scott Shully, the Florentine Opera shares this famed work with Milwaukee for the first and perhaps only time in the magnificent period setting of the Federal Courthouse’s Ceremonial Courtroom. The highlight of the evening will be a performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Trial By Jury, a comic one-act opera by the geniuses who created The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance. The Florentine’s Studio Artists will sing principal roles – the leads and chorus will utilize the courtroom’s jury box and judicial bench during the performance. This charitable event will raise funds for the Florentine Opera’s acclaimed educational program and annual school tour. This season’s tour will feature an original fully costumed and staged production of Goldie B. Locks & The Three Singing Bears, which will engage nearly 20,000 students.
This event is chaired by Mark & Sharon Cameli, Wayne & Kristine Lueders, and Billie Jean & David Smith. Presenting co-sponsors include Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren, Foley & Lardner LLP, and Michael Best & Friedrich. An expected audience of 300 guests will be in attendance, hailing from all parts of the region – including River Hills, Brookfield, the Lake Country, Ozaukee County, Washington County, Chicagoland and downtown Milwaukee. Just a few of the arts champions who have already RSVP’d include Don and Kate Wilson, Nita Soref, George & Angela Jacobi, Reynolds & Linda Honold, Mario & Cathy Costantini, John & Murph Burke among many others. For more information, visit www.florentineopera.org.
There will be two performances of Trial By Jury in the Ceremonial Courtroom at 5:30p.m. and 6:30p.m., followed by dinner in the Courthouse Atrium.
The Milwaukee Federal Courthouse is located at 517 E. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI.
The Florentine Opera Company is driven by its mission to produce the full range of operatic works reflecting the highest musical and theatrical standards and to support community and education programs that foster the current and next generation of opera audiences and practitioners.
