The Dinky Rink Returns To The Milwaukee Public Market
“Area’s smallest public ice rink” opens February 3 with new ice curling feature
The “Area’s Smallest Public Ice Rink” is set to return as the Milwaukee Public Market announced today the re-opening of The Dinky Rink, located outdoors on the north side of the public market building in the market’s surface parking lot. The Dinky Rink will free of charge and open for operation on Friday, February 3, with 90-minute time slots available by reservation only.
“The demand for ice skating was beyond our expectations last year as we had hundreds of people enjoying the rink over a 3-week period,” said Paul Schwartz, executive director of the Milwaukee Public Market and Business Improvement District #2. “It was a clear indication that people are yearning for outdoor amenities like this as they look for fun and unique recreational activities during the winter months.”
This year’s rink is slightly larger than last year and includes a new ice curling option. A ceremonial “first skate” will be done by beloved Milwaukee Admirals mascot, Roscoe, on Friday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a stroll inside the market building to take photos with fans.
Measuring at roughly 1000 square feet, the Dinky Rink feature covered seating “farm stand”, ice curling, outdoor heaters, and access to food and drink options from market vendors.
The Dinky Rink will be open during general market operating hours to people ages 3 years old and older. Reservations will be taken online. Attendees will be required to bring their own skates to the rink, which will operate as long as Mother Nature allows.
