TF Competes at John Tierney Invitational

Golden Eagles claim four event victories in front of hometown crowd.

MILWAUKEE, Wis.- Marquette track and field competed in front of a hometown crowd Sunday at the John Tierney Invitational inside the Klotsche Center on the campus of UW‑Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles claimed four event victories in their first meet in Milwaukee this season.

“Excellent meet for the big team today,” said Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Bert Rogers. “It’s great competing close to home in front of family and friends. We had several good performances and a few top‑10 marks that give us a lot to build on.”

The women’s squad was led by sophomores Sadie Kibelstis and Allyson Broaddus, who each secured event victories. Kibelstis won the mile in 5:16.64 and added a top‑five finish in the 800m (2:31.78). Broaddus captured the weight throw with a personal‑record mark of 17.57m, the ninth‑best mark in program history, while junior Megan White followed with a season‑best 16.46m to place second. Freshman Taya Gummerson also earned a win for Marquette, taking the 3000m in 11:04.50 while adding a fourth‑place finish in the mile.

On the track, freshman Nonic Oelling placed second in the 200m with a time of 26.24, while junior Jaiden Dornaus finished second in the 400m (1:02.95). Freshman Paige Haglund added a personal best of 1:04.70. Sophomore Sanai Baker earned a top‑five finish in the 60m, clocking 7.92 in the final after advancing out of the prelims. In the hurdles, sophomore Olivia Verden placed fifth in the 60m hurdles following a season‑best qualifying time of 9.46.

In the field, senior Haley Schaffer recorded a personal‑best leap of 5.65m to place fourth in the long jump, tying for the ninth‑best indoor mark in school history. Junior Sara Stout finished fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.48m, while freshman Kassidy Papa added a third‑place finish in the pole vault (3.45m). Marquette closed the women’s competition with a second‑place showing in the 4x400m relay, as the ‘A’ squad finished in 4:11.98.

The men’s team was highlighted by a dominant mile victory from freshman Patrick Clune, who ran a personal‑record 4:17.97. Marquette placed five athletes in the top five of the event, with freshman Dylan Riniker finishing second in a PR 4:19.34, junior Nick Parrell taking third (4:19.77), freshman Sam Chandler placing fourth (4:20.73), and sophomore Edgar Valles recording a personal best of 4:21.65. In the 3000m, junior Logan Goodman earned second with a personal‑record time of 8:43.63, while Riniker added a third‑place finish with another PR.

Senior Justin Juniel paced the sprint group with a second‑place finish in the 60m (7.13). Freshman Charlie Dutmer posted a personal‑best 8.72 to place fourth in the 60m hurdles and later finished third in the 200m (23.44). Sophomore Alika Lugo added a runner‑up finish in the 400m with a time of 51.14.

In the field events, freshman Jude Anderson placed second in the long jump with a season‑best mark of 6.85m. Sophomore Charlie Smith recorded a personal‑record throw of 14.63m to finish second in the shot put, while senior John Pitta added a second‑place finish and personal record of 14.15m in the triple jump, the ninth‑best mark in school history. The men’s 4x400m relay capped the meet with a second‑place finish in 3:45.14.
