Suspects Criminally Charged in Connection to the fatal shooting of 6-year-old

MILWAUKEE, WI – On Sunday, April 6, 2025, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office issued criminal charges against Daquela S. Collins and Quintell S. Collins in connection to a fatal shooting of 6-year-old. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., on the 4200 block of N. 51st Boulevard. A 6-year-old child obtained a gun and subsequently died from a fatal gunshot injury.

Daquela was charged with one count of Neglecting a Child – Consequence is Death – As Party to a Crime and one count of Straw Purchasing of Firearm. If convicted, she could face up to 35 years in prison and fined up to $125,000.

Quintell was charged with one count of Neglecting a Child – Consequence is Death – As Party to a Crime, one count of Second Degree Reckless Homicide, Habitual Criminality Repeater, two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Habitual Criminality Repeater, one count of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Habitual Criminality Repeater, one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle to Flee or in Attempt to Elude an Officer, Habitual Criminality Repeater and one count of Obstructing an Officer, Habitual Criminality Repeater. If convicted, she could face up to 116 years in prison and fined up to $295,000. If you engage in criminal behavior, you will be held accountable.

This six year old child was days away from celebrating a birthday.  The child’s death could have been prevented if the individuals responsible to protect and guide this child secured their weapons. The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) reminds the public to keep firearms locked with a gunlock and secured in an area out of the reach of children. Teach children they should never handle firearms.  Never purchase firearms for individuals that are prohibited from possessing one. If you are interested in obtaining a gunlock, please contact your local police district to check the availability of free gunlocks or for information on where you can obtain one.
