Supervisor Taylor and Partners are Organizing and Delivering Aid to Communities in Mississippi
MILWAUKEE- Supervisor Sequanna Taylor is partnering with local activists and organizations, including Homer Blow, Community Task Force MKE, Program the Parks, Bounce Milwaukee, Taylor Legacies, Raising Our Village, Positive Images Studio, Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church, African American Ladies Empowered to Grow Opportunities, and Generation of Excellence Prenatal Care, to bring aid to communities in need in Mississippi.
“After our successful initiative providing aid to communities in Texas that were affected by the winter storm, we were informed about similar needs of communities in Mississippi,” said Supervisor Taylor. “The people in Mississippi are our brothers and sisters. We hope that our assistance helps answer their call.”
Many of these same community partners came together last month to assist Texans affected by the winter storm that left many people across the state without water, heat, or electricity.
Supervisor Taylor and others will transport supplies to Mississippi via a multi-vehicle caravan to personally distribute them to communities in need, departing Milwaukee on Thursday, March 18.
The group plans to return to Milwaukee from Mississippi on Sunday, March 21.
Donations are being accepted in person at Bounce Milwaukee (2801 South 5th Court, Milwaukee, WI, 53207). Monetary donations can be sent via Cashapp to $MKE2MS.
Those who wish to drop off donations are asked to wear a mask and practice appropriate physical distancing. City of Milwaukee health and safety guidelines will be enforced.
