Supervisor Kathleen Vincent Joins NAMIWalks to Support Mental Health Initiatives
MILWAUKEE – In September, Milwaukee County joined communities across the nation in recognizing Suicide Prevention Month, aiming to raise awareness about suicide prevention, mental health resources, and the significance of open dialogue around mental health issues. Continuing the advocacy for this cause, Supervisor Kathleen Vincent is participating in the NAMIWalks fundraising campaign in support of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
“This cause is deeply personal to me, and I know how essential it is for individuals and families to access the mental health resources they need,” said Supervisor Vincent. “I am honored to participate in this year’s NAMIWalks fundraiser and to support NAMI’s vital mission. By raising awareness and offering resources, we can positively impact the lives of those affected by mental illness and suicide. Organizations like NAMI provide real help and hope to those in need.”
NAMI, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, is committed to improving the lives of millions affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy via over 500 local affiliates. On October 5, 2024, NAMIWalks will host its Fall United Day of Hope, a fundraising event and walk inspiring participants to take action toward “Mental Health for All.” This event leads into Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6–12) and highlights World Mental Health Day on October 10. During this week, NAMI will emphasize workplace mental health and raise awareness of the challenges faced by those living with mental illness.
