Long-time educator and soccer aficionado Mark Horowitz will be honored with a plaque on the Lake Park Warming House and the naming of the athletic fields adjacent to the warming house “Horowitz Fields” in a ceremony at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, Sup. Gerry Broderick announced today.

Horowitz, who was selected as an Honored Member of the Covington “Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry,” is a member of the National Education Association; University of Rochester Alumni Association; Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club; and the Milwaukee Board of School Directors National Honor Roll for Outstanding Teachers, among numerous other memberships, awards and honors.

The honor was initiated by the Lake Park Friends, who received authorization from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture to purchase and mount the plaque at the warming house.

“Mark Horowitz exemplifies the type of citizen who is deserving of such an honor,” Broderick said. “His selfless dedication to his students and to the game of soccer is a notable contribution to our community. This is a well-deserved and appropriate honor for a great educator and leader.”
