Supervisor Eckblad to Participate in Mitchell Airport Park Playground Groundbreaking Monday
MILWAUKEE – Supervisor Jack Eckblad invites the public to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Mitchell Airport Park playground on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at 4446 S Logan Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207. The current playground at Mitchell Airport Park has some of the oldest equipment in the County’s park system.
“I’m very grateful to our hard-working County Parks staff for bringing this much-needed upgrade to this playground, which has been part of our park system for nearly 30 years,” said Supervisor Eckblad. “The new design will create a more welcoming and fun spot for families in the neighborhood.”
The renovation includes the addition of modern, ADA-accessible play structures for children ages 2-5 and 5-12, along with swings and other independent play pieces. A new play surface, made of poured-in-place rubber and engineered wood fiber, will ensure safety and accessibility. Additional improvements include benches, bike racks, new asphalt paving, and an upgraded underground drainage system.Construction will begin immediately after the groundbreaking, with the playground expected to open in spring 2025.
