MILWAUKEE, WI – Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance is thrilled to debut a brand-new interactive light and sound experience for this year’s festival, Radiant Echoes, marking the third consecutive year Summerfest has partnered with Milwaukee-based FuzzPop Workshop to bring immersive art to the community. Radiant Echoes is created by FuzzPop Workshop with support from Milwaukee World Festival Inc., Bader Philanthropies, Herzfeld Foundation, and the Wilson Family Foundation.

“We are proud to support and showcase local artists through our partnership with FuzzPop Workshop,” said Kevin Canady, Chief Revenue Officer, Milwaukee World Festival Inc. “Radiant Echoes is a large-scale, one-of-a-kind immersive experience that integrates art, sculpture, sound and light, with live performance. We look forward to debuting this unique installation during Summerfest. Thank you to our partners for their continued support of the arts.”

“We’re thrilled to return to Summerfest for a third year and bring an art experience that is even bigger and wilder,” said Daniel Murray, founder and artistic director of FuzzPop Workshop. “We’ve summoned the energy of an ancient future rave, and it’s time to join the ritual.”

This year’s installation is described as a monument of sound and light created by community where visitors will enter a space of towering megaliths and otherworldly flora—an ancient stone circle from another dimension—where they can harness the power of light and music. Located at the north end of the grounds between the Uline Warehouse and T-Mobile Stages, Radiant Echoes will be available during all three weekends of Summerfest and is included FREE with admission.

New this year, FuzzPop Workshop is collaborating with two local arts organizations for the project – the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts with a smartphone-based augmented reality component developed by faculty and students, and Wild Space Dance Company, blending contemporary dance with large-scale sculptural elements.(performance date and times to be announced at a later date).

Radiant Echoes by the Numbers:

  • 20 Milwaukee-based artists
  • 25 feet tall
  • 50-foot diameter
  • 1,000+ custom-designed sculptural flora
  • 20+ hidden faces embedded throughout the installation
