Steil Votes Against Impeachment

By - Jan 13th, 2021 03:37 pm

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) released a statement after voting against the impeachment of President Trump.

“I votes against impeaching President Trump. This impeachment vote not only sets a horrible precedent for future administrations, but it father divides the country. Speaker Pelosi‘s sham process included no hearings, no investigation, no witness testimony, and no due process. Despite all other challenges facing our country, like vaccine allocation and distribution, we are spending time on a divisive impeachment one week before the inauguration of the next president. When Congress uses its constitutional powers for political expediency, no one wins,” said Steil.

    U.S. Rep Bryan Steil:

It is completely reckless to leave Trump as President now. He has no regard for the U.S. Constitution or the law. He sent a mob to kill people at the Capital. He continues to do everything possible to sabotage the incoming Biden administration. His behavior and actions are disgusting and un-American!

    Do you need a reminder:
The riot Wednesday, January 6, 2021 was a direct result of his manipulations:
    • Trump implored his base to protest, “wildly”, the constitutional process to acknowledge the election results.
    • He inflamed and incited his followers to charge the capitol to force Congress to change the results of a lawful election to keep him in power. He told them they had to “take the country back”.
    • During the riot, he was disappointed others were not as pleased with the riot as he was. He continued to call Congressional members to pressure them to vote to object to the fair and legal election while the riot was underway. He refused to authorize the Pentagon to send aid to the Capital, while he was watching the riot on TV, aid which he had “stand down” prior to the riot.

Consider that Trump, over the last 4 years:
    • Attempted a coup on Wednesday.
    • Lied to the public over 30,000 times, normalizing lies, leading too many ignorant people to believe his falsehoods.
    • Lied and corrupted the election and political process with his lies about voter fraud and a stolen election.
    • Continues to call the legitimate media “fake news”, while praising fascistic media groups putting out his propaganda.
    • Continues to use divisive rhetoric to pit citizen against citizen, to inflame the fires of racism and “otherism”.
    • Has plans for more “protests” for January 17 and 20.

Trump is a very dangerous, unstable individual, in the most powerful position on the planet. He should be out as President, out of the White House, and in jail. Any actions this administration has taken since the election should be reversed, as they were undertaken by an administration plotting a coup against the U.S., while doing anything possible to damage the country and the incoming administration’s ability to be effective for the citizens of the U.S. Voting against impeaching Trump is a violation of your oath of office.

This should be as simple as the “law and order” folks always want it to be. For there to ever be any real change, there must be accountability. Those unwilling to take that step, must then, by extension, not want anything to change. I mean, come on, even the Mitch the Turtle knows he’s done with Trump, what is anyone else hanging onto?
