MILWAUKEE — Jason Rae, President & CEO of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, released this statement today after Governor Tony Evers issued an executive order that requires state agencies to develop and implement policies preventing discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity:

“It’s a new day in Wisconsin.

“We are so thankful to Governor Evers that one of his first acts in office is ensuring that state employees cannot be discriminated against based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The dedication of Governor Evers to building a state where everyone can bring their full selves to work is second to none.

“This simple action will have a tremendous impact in building a more welcoming and inclusive Wisconsin.

“We know that this is the first of many important changes that will be made under this new administration to ensure that Wisconsin’s LGBT community is fully protected.”
