Statement from Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson
Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson statement on ballot drop box ruling.
“We live in a democracy, and voter participation is an essential part of keeping democracies strong. I want every eligible voter to cast a ballot.
“That’s why I am disappointed at the court ruling prohibiting ballot drop boxes. We know from experience that ballot boxes increase access and promote participation. There is no evidence that drop boxes negatively affect the integrity of our elections.
“I support an appeal to this lower court ruling, and I am hopeful future government actions increase, rather than inhibits, voter participation.”
