State Senator Chris Larson Endorsees Marisabel Cabrera for State Assembly
Larson believes in standing up for communities, public education
MILWAUKEE – Marisabel Cabrera, Democratic candidate for the 9th Assembly district, today issued the following statement regarding state Senator Chris Larson‘s (D – Milwaukee) endorsement:
“We are truly honored to receive the support of Senator Larson. As another member of the Milwaukee delegation who is coming out to stand alongside our campaign, it is evident that people are ready for new leadership and proactive representation. Senator Larson’s strong record of defending public education, standing up for the rights of working people across the state, and protecting our natural resources speaks for itself. I am looking forward to working with him to make the 9th district stronger than it has ever been.”
Larson said, “I’m proud to publicly endorse Marisabel in her race for state Representative. Our state is heading in the wrong direction and some politicians are looking to drive a wedge between Milwaukee and the rest of the state. Marisabel’s pragmatic energy will bring a welcome voice to the conversation in the years ahead.
“In the time that we’ve been friends, I’ve known her to be a strong advocate for those of our neighbors who need it most. She’s never been afraid to pick a fight when the cause is just. Marisabel has already shown true leadership by standing up for our community on Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission at a time when critical voices are needed. She’s also stood strong against wrongheaded attempts to take away public control of our public schools and other efforts to privately profit off of public services. For these, and so many other reasons, I think Marisabel will be a good leader and I hope she is elected to serve our shared community.”
Marisabel Cabrera is a private-practice immigration attorney, a member of Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin‘s Latino Caucus, and a candidate for Wisconsin’s 9th Assembly district in the Democratic primary election to be held August 9, 2016.
