MILWAUKEE (October 17, 2022) — Spectrum today announced a donation of $7,500 and 25 Chromebooks to the Benedict Center of Milwaukee through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.

The Benedict Center, a part of the community since 1974, provides services and support for women in the criminal justice system including community-based counseling for substance use disorders and mental health treatment, incarceration re-entry support, neighborhood drop-in centers and street outreach.

“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Melissa Morris, Regional Vice President of Field Operations at Spectrum. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”

“It is gratifying to see two terrific organizations in the 6th District working together to better the lives of our community,” said Milwaukee Alderwoman Milele Coggs. “The Benedict Center has long been recognized as a strong resource and advocate for women in our area, and I would like to thank Spectrum for helping the Benedict Center continue its valuable mission in this way.”

Spectrum Employee Community Grants has provided funding to more than 335 local nonprofits in 31 states throughout the company’s service area since its inception in July 2019.

Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s 93,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
