Shooting near 35th and Townsend results in fatality of young man

Statement of Alderman Khalif J. Rainey June 16, 2023

By - Jun 16th, 2023 12:17 pm

Wednesday morning a fatal shooting took place near a day care in the vicinity of N. 35th and W. Townsend streets. The shooting was a result of an armed robbery, and a 20-year-old man tragically lost his life. I want to send my well-wishes to the man’s family and friends as they grieve during this difficult time.

The amount of gun violence in our community continues to be unacceptable, and I am running out of words to describe my feelings of anger and disappointment at these types of incidents. This young man had his life cut short because of a senseless act of violence, and his family deserves justice. I would urge anyone with information to step up and share what they know.

Police are still seeking suspects, and anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or the P3 Tips app.
