MILWAUKEE – June 19, 2017 – The Hilton Milwaukee City Center, owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, will host a Secret Sculpture Garden in 6th and Green, the hotel’s outside courtyard, from June 21 through September 4, 2017. The public is invited to visit the secret garden and see local artist, Joel Pfeiffer’s 17 breathtaking stainless steel and fused glass sculptures in the “Walk of Wonder” exhibit.

The Secret Sculpture Garden will begin on Wednesday, June 21 with an opening reception from 5 – 8 p.m. Guests will be able to walk amongst the sculptures and meet Pfeiffer as he discusses his inspiration for each piece. The event will include a cash bar and a la carte food for purchase, as well as live music from Painted Caves, a Milwaukee-based band known for their Arabian-inspired folk music and mesmerizing performances. The hotel will also host happy hours in the space every Friday from 5 – 9 p.m. June 23 through September 1, 2017.

“I’m thrilled to feature my outdoor colored glass and stainless-steel sculptures at the Hilton Milwaukee,” said Joel Pfeiffer, local artist. “The green space at the Hilton lends a perfect landscape for the interplay of color and light throughout the day. I’m inspired by this fusion of color, glass and light for the “Walk of Wonder” exhibit.”

Pfeiffer, who resides in Hartland, Wisconsin, has had numerous shows and exhibitions, received countless arts and education awards, and has presented at many conferences and events, most often as a keynote speaker. He has had a number of major international and community art installations throughout the state. One of his most notable installations is the American-Soviet Mural Project, an 8’ x 36’ ceramic mural installed at the Mitchell International Airport since 1990.

Pfeiffer is also known throughout the community for his clay stomps, which mixes dry ingredients into clay for ceramic works of art. Over the past 33 years, Pfeiffer has facilitated over 80 clay stomps for schools, art museums, libraries and other community events. The clay stomps allow people to be a part of his art work and have fun.

The Secret Sculpture Garden is a sanctioned Sculpture Milwaukee event, a nonprofit organization that has brought 22 sculptures by 21 different artists along Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. All of Pfeiffer’s sculptures in the Secret Sculpture Garden will be available for purchase.

The opening reception and Secret Sculpture Garden are free and open to the public. For more information about the Secret Sculpture Garden, visit the event website, or, you can check for more details via Facebook or Twitter @HiltonMilwaukee.
